Abdominoplasty Baton Rouge
Abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” surgery is a very common surgery to remove excess lower abdominal skin and fat and repair lax abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis) which separate during weight changes or pregnancy. The most common causes of a lax abdomen and excess tissue is pregnancy, weight fluctuations, massive weight loss, and prior abdominal surgery. This area is often difficult for patients to achieve their desired contour despite exercise and healthy eating. Abdominoplasty is an excellent way to improve abdominal contour, slim the waist, and create a more flat and smooth abdomen. This surgery is often performed in combination with liposuction to further contour the waist and treat any trouble spots.
In our consultation, we will discuss an evaluation of your overall health, perform a physical examination, take photographs for your medical record, and discuss risks and potential complications of abdominoplasty surgery. We will also review before and after photos of other patients who have undergone abdominoplasty. Patients that are planning to undergo this procedure should be at a stable weight and not planning any future pregnancies.
I perform my abdominoplasty with or without liposuction in our surgery center or at many local hospitals under general anesthesia in combination with local anesthetics. This procedure can also be performed in combination with breast procedures or some minor gynecologic surgeries and is usually performed on an outpatient basis.
